Abstract

64
The topic of the ownership of the media is not as simple a matter as it may seem at first sight. Ownership, title-bearing, management, obligations, rights and functions are all related aspects that warrant further in-depth study, which this article provides within the context of different legal frameworks. The author explains that ownership confers a large degree of basic domination over the media, and also a large degree of basic operational control over the other related aspects. Ownership and titlebearing confer a certain number of faculties, among which are those of creation, promotion, organization, representation, management, disposal, coordination, establishment of editorial principles, freedom of hiring, difusion and distribution. Ownership also brings about many obliqations, among which are those of obtaining benefits, correct management, ethical behaviour, quality control, participation and the response to different needs and requirements.
