El objetivo general de esta investigación cuasiexperimental ex post facto fue el de analizar la relación de la autoestima y la seguridad emocional en el sistema familiar con los diferentes estilos motivacionales académicos (motivación intrínseca, internalizada, extrínseca y desmotivación) de un grupo de estudiantes de asignaturas pertenecientes a la materia de Economía en E.S.O. y Bachillerato. Para ello se tuvieron en cuenta los posibles efectos de interacción de la autoestima y la seguridad emocional con el nivel educativo de los participantes. La muestra del estudio estuvo compuesta por 447 estudiantes. Mediante una metodología de encuesta, para evaluar los estilos motivacionales de los participantes se utilizó la Escala de Motivación Académica. Por otro lado, con el fin de evaluar la autoestima de los participantes, se empleó la Escala de Autoestima de Rosenberg, mientras que para evaluar la seguridad en el sistema familiar se empleó la Escala de Seguridad en el Sistema Familiar. Tal y como se esperaba, se halló una relación global entre la autoestima, la seguridad emocional y los diferentes estilos motivacionales, de manera que éstos eran predichos por la desimplicación, la seguridad y la autoestima, encontrándose esta relación moderada por el nivel educativo de los estudiantes.
