Abstract

353
This article focuses on the pedagogy of Eugenio d’Ors (1881- 1954) from the perspective of Well Done Work. It is based on an analysis of the complex personality of d’Ors himself, who showed two very contrasting facets: a classical vocation manifest as a way of working with Baroque tonalities. After reviewing his intellectual architecture, based on figurative thought, emphasis is placed on the aesthetic vocation of his pedagogy that contrasted with the Romantic currents of the nineteenth century, which were given to intuitiveness and spontaneity. For Eugenio d’Ors, the pedagogy of learning and heroism requires students to work diligently and with self-sacrifice in order to achieve in anything they do –whether building their own personal profile in response to a vocation, or producing material works– a perfection, synthesis of excellence and beauty that may only be encountered in Well Done Work
