Tanto la idea de derechos humanos de Jacques Maritain como su participación en la redacción de la Declaración Universal de 1948 (DUDH) siguen suscitando interés en la actualidad. Ya sea por el concepto per se de los derechos humanos, como por alguna eventual fundamentación de éstos en un documento pluricultural, o por la influencia del filósofo francés en la composición del texto. Charles Malik, filósofo y diplomático libanés, fue uno de los redactores nucleares de la DUDH. En la Library of Congress se conserva un extenso archivo de documentos suyos que incluye amplias secciones de sus años universitarios y como embajador de su país ante Naciones Unidas. Con el fin de ofrecer fuentes originarias, este artículo presenta las referencias de Charles Malik a la persona y pensamiento de Jacques Maritain con la intención de que sirvan a futuros investigadores para explicar y aclarar el rol de Maritain y sus ideas en la redacción de la DUDH.
