Metabolism of tyrosine and tryptophan in Bombyx mori L

Abstract
It is concluded that while tyrosine and tryptophan are not syntesized by the larva of Bombyx mori I, in its first four stages, the synthesis of tyrosine takes place intensively in the fifth stage, by a mechanism which must be different to that known until now starting from phenylalanine. Tryptophan appears to be synthesized in the fifth stage, but in a lesser quantity than tyrosine. Other particularities of ingestion, excretion and metabolism of tyrosine and tryptophan by the larva of Bombyx mori L. have been studied.
