Abstract

The figures for total serum proteins and their fractions are influenced by ionizing radiations, as can be deduced from numerous papers, but the effect produced on the said valúes by the radiations of Zn-65 have not been studied, in spite of its being a penetrating gamma emitter and of long enough life to control the effects over a long period.

In the present work, the results obtained on inoculating dogs intraperitoneally with variable and continuous doses of Zn-65 are reported.

It has been found that, although he figure of total proteins does not undergo an appreciable change for any of the doses administered, there are significant variations : increase in fibrinogen and globulins and decrease in seroalbumin, so that the proteic quotient suffers an inversión which is in accordance with the results obtained by other authors who used different isotopes.
