Survival of xenoplastic transplants in anurous amphibia by treatment with semicarbazide

Abstract
Xenoplastíc transplantatíons have been performed between Discoglossus pictus (anu ra) and Rana escalenta (anura). The grafts were taken from Discoglossus neurulas. The hosts (Rana escalenta) were operated at tail-bud stage.
After operation, larvae growing in Holtfreter’s solution plus semicarbazide did not show the typical reaction of graft rejectíon. All the grafts were accepted under these conditions.
The possibilities of Histidine Decarboxylase Enzymatic System inhibition by semi carbazide and the role of intracellular histamine formed in the acceptance and rejectíon processes in low vertebrales are discussed.
