Record of the clinical data and pathologic findings from a man 58 years old presenting a leiomyosarcoma of the right internal saphenous vein and a leiomyoma in an exactly symmetrical site on the lift side. The symmetrical character of this rare tumours (leiomyosarcoma of the large veins is very infrequent) arises the suspicion that their origin is to be found on a developmental disturbance, making it possible that some of the vascular leiomyusarcomas are the result of the malignant transformation of long standing hamartomas.
