La teoría de los actos de habla y la teología analítica están cada vez más presentes en las cuestiones actuales de teología fundamental. Se analizan las aportaciones de esta teoría en la obra de J. R. Searle a la hermenéutica bíblica, a la razonabilidad del acto de fe, a la justificación por la fe y a la fundamentación de las acciones sacramentales. Se exponen las limitaciones en sus aplicaciones teológicas. Finalmente, se concluye que el análisis del acto de fe como acto de habla debe expresar la dimensión ontológica del contenido proposicional y la esperanza performativa propia de la fe cristiana.
