This article analyzes the lights and shadows of the complex content of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the Iranian nuclear program (2015). It entailed the lifting of the economic and financial sanctions imposed on Iran, without prejudice to the US mechanism for the automatic reinstatement of these sanctions in the event of Iranian non-compliance. The future nuclear deal is at stake, as Saudi Arabia and Israel are wary of the Plan being sufficiently effective to rule out Iran becoming a nuclear power in the medium term.
