Science’ main problem is to find his subject. This subject conditioned the principles and the method to be used. In the case of the Historical Science, the subject must be constructed from fragmentary data because History deals with that no longer exists. The History of historians is a meta-history that writtes their categories from the present, but this is only present for the sensitive perception, because thought always works slower than the flow of perception. What we call present is the most recent past. The history of historians, historiography as metalanguage is a virtual narrative containing, as essential core, an argument that has a logical-linguistic structure that can be objectified. The object that lead us to the historical object is the event, whose time is not that of the object. The rhythm of living history is not that of historiography. They are two different levels containing different class (concept), structure and function. Through historiography we tried to identify the ontology of events, which is a dynamic result (in fieri) of plans and strategies. They should be investigated intentions immanent to the event (not the internal being of people) that give them meaning. Such intentions expressed in propositions allow categorization and modeling.
