Abstract

The problem of the supposed action of phosphates incrcasing the intestinal absorption of selective sugars is revised. Experiments of successive absorptions (Sois and Ponz method) lasting 15, 20 or 30 minutes, were practiced in 40 rats. Glucose at 5.4 % concentration was dissolved m either distilled water or in phosphates solution (2 °/ sodium glycerophosphate neutralized at pH 7 with 0.1 N C1H and°0 02 or 0.2 % inorganic phosphates in buffer mixture at nH 7) The intestinal absorption of glucose was not increased neither by glycerophosphate nor by inorganic phosphates.
