Method of isolated lung

Abstract
A method is studied of an isolated lung with crossed circnlation which permits the maintaining of blood flow to the lung from of arterial blood from another dog. The respiratory movements of the lung are registered by means of an expirometer with bellows in a closed circuit. The expansión of the isolated lung is produced by rhythmical descents of extrapulmonary pressure. The utility of the method for the study of thevariations of pulmonary elasticity is tested. It is shown that pulmonary sanguineous hypertension increases the elastic resistence.
