Abstract

The haematological variations found when variable doses of Zn-65 have been injected at different times in dogs which showed normal characteristics at the beginning of the experiment are studied.

The figures for haematocrit, erythrocyte and leucocyte counting, the leucocytary formula, thrombocytes, coagulum retraction, speed of sedimentation and bleeding and coagulation time, have been determined.

The red cells, thrombocytes and total leucocytes suffer a decrease, immediately after inoculation, which does not seem tp depend on the employed dose. A fluctuating period ensues, ending in a final fall in all the cases studied up to the end of the 80 days which this experiment lasted.

The basophils and monocytes suffer no alteration. The neutrophils are the only blood-cells in which an increase has been found after the inoculation of the isotope. Bleeding and coagulation times and coagulum retraction reniain unaltered. The globular resistance diminishes and haemolysis is produced even in 0.75 % CINa. Erythrocyte sedimentaron rate increases throughout the experiment.
