Acid phosphatase in staphylococci

Abstract

We study the production and activity of exo-, and endocellular acid phospho- monoesterase on 23 strains of Slaphylo­coccus aureus and one strain of Slaphylococcus albus. We study several factors with influence in production (medium and psyhical conditions) and on activity (substrate and enzyme concentration, buffer, />H, incubation, inactivation temperature, metallic ions and oragnics pro­ducts). We suggest that all the enzymes are similar, with in quantitative differences. We obtain a purified preparations with nucleotidase activity, lower with deoxiribonucleotides that with ribonucleotides, the contrary that a comertial preparation of phosphatase.
