Abstract

A study has been made of the anabolic action (measured by the development in weight) of a derivative of testosterone. 17-a-methyl, 17-b-hydroxyl, androstan, 1-4-dien, 3-ona (Dianabol) on adult and new-born animals, castrated and subjected to an administration of to mg of thiourea daily.

From the results obtained, two important facts stand out : 1. In no case were toxic lesions observed. 2. The results obtained in the animals subjected to the administration of thiourea were spectacularly favourable for those treated, and we observed not only a great increase in weight but also a marked regression in the thyroid histological lesions.
