Abstract

In vitro formation of “COj was determined in slices of anterior, middle, posterior hypotha- lamic areas, amygdala, hippocampus and pituitary of rats during oestrus and dioestrus. Glucose-l-C** and glucose-6-C“, were used as substratos.
The result show that formation of UCO, from glucose-6-C1* by anterior and posterior hypothalamic areas increase in rats during oestrus as compared with animal in dioestrus. The results are statistically significan! (p < 0.02 anterior hypothalamus; p < 0.05 posterior hypo thalamus).

When glucose-l-C1* was used as a substrate no significant differences were observed.

The quotient CO, formation from glucose-l-C** and CO3 formation from glucose-6-C1* decreases in the different hypothalamic areas and amygdala from rats in oestrus as compared with animáis in dioestrus.
