Abstract

It has been studied the effect of different chemicals on heart muscle cells from chicken embryos cultured in Eagle’s medium with 10 % Fetal Bovine serum.

The cultures incubated with estrogens showed very poor growth and the cells look damaged.

Potassium chloride added to the medium to give 800 mg/1 as final concentration improved the growth, but not the cells diferentiation. The cultures to which was incorporated the potassium enriched medium get an optimum growth 24 hours before that controls, at least. Highest concentrations of potassium chloride don’t gave best results.
