Abstract

fíelatlonships Between Amygdala and Hippo- campus Determinad by After-dlscharges. Rev. esp. Fisiol., 30, 261-268. 1974.

Eílectrical stimulation of the amygdala and the hippocampus has been performed in 35 cats. The following results has been obtained: a) thresholds to produce electrical after-discharges in the amygdaloid nuclei and in the different areas of the hippocam pus; ¿) frequency, duration, amplitude and morphology of the after-discharges, showing the specific pattern of each structure; c) the amygdaloid nuclei propagated their own patterns of after-discharges to the hippocampus, while the hippocampus dorsalis and the hippocampus posterioris did not propágate their specific patterns to the amygdala; and d) according to our results an inhibitory role of the amygdala centralis on the hippocampal after-discharges has been proposed.
