Abstract

An improved copper reduction method for the estimation of sugar in 0.05 mi. of blood by colorimetry is described. The isotonic copper sulphate solution employed for deproteinize unlaked blood serves as an excellent agent for the conservation of the glucose standards. Different commercially available phosphomolyddic acids may be employed for the development of an intense and stable colour. The results are evaluated with the aid of two standards by the author’s system for correcting the deviation to Beer law, which permits to employ colorimetry as well as photometry. The method is accurate and simple, and permits to realize an estimation in 20 minutes.
