Abstract

54
Word and silence are intimately bound up together: without silence there cannot be any words, and vice versa. This relationship also existed, in an absolutely original fashion, in God. The notion of the mystery is summarized in the permanent reality of the word and silence of God; this means that «Deus revelatus» is necessarily still «Deus absconditus». On the basis of this mystery, we may better understand the so called «silence of God» when confronted with evil, and we can offer some possible responses, inspired by Christ crucified and resurrected.
