Matrimonio, divorcio y estatus social de tres mujeres en la colonia judía de Elefantina (siglo V a. C.)

En este trabajo vamos a estudiar la repercusión del matrimonio en el estatus social de tres mujeres de la comunidad judaíta de la isla de Elefantina durante el siglo V a. C. Veremos que a través del vínculo matrimonial se consigue la manumisión, se mantiene el estatus social, y se protege el patrimonio. Ciertamente, solo en el caso de nuestra primera protagonista sus nupcias tienen como resultado una clara promoción social. En los otros dos casos, el matrimonio sirve de protección contra el detrimento del propio estatus. Aunque, obviamente, el fin primordial de la institución matrimonial no es reforzar o mantener la posición social, el estudio de las ketuboth (contratos matrimoniales) de nuestras protagonistas nos mostrará las cláusulas que permiten el margen de maniobra para conseguir los objetivos de promoción o protección de estatus a los que se ha aludido.
