Is God a Timeless Being? Thomas Aquinas and the Debate between Classical Theism and Neoclassical Theism
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article presents, in the first place, the main elements of Classical Theism’s doctrine of God’s eternity as timelessness in the version held by Thomas Aquinas, and the arguments in favor of it. Second, it explains the main motivations of the socalled Neo-Classical Theism to reject the classical doctrine; some of their arguments are briefly presented and an answer is sketched. Finally, some of the main problems of “divine temporalism” are set forth.
