Abstract

Xavier Zubiri (1898-1983) and Leonardo Polo (1926-) propose a realism in knowledge; they study about which is own of the act of knowledge, as act of knowledge. Zubiri believes that knowing is actualization of reality, because in the intellection is presented the actuality of the real, the reality is present as being in itself something “in its own right”, something de suyo. In Zubiri’s thought the richness in which the real actualized rest in the cognitive act (its content and its formality), overcomes the objective knowledge. For Polo’s thought the first meaning of cognitive act is “immanent operation”, perfect praxis, co-actuality of act and object; but the mental presence of the objective knowledge is detected by habits of intelligence and this knowledge.
