The purpose of this paper is to study the validity of international environmental law in situations of armed conflict. The increased sensitivity of public opinion and international society to environmental issues has led to a recent resurgence of this debate. Although there seems to be a certain conviction that International Environmental Law continues to apply in the context of armed conflict, the practice of states is incoherent and contradictory, which makes it advisable to rethink the issue, which is what the following pages aim to resolve.
