This article discusses the evolution of the concept of the rule of law in the European Union, focusing on the latest crises (especially in Poland and Hungary). It describes the tools that the Union has at its disposal to address these challenges and the latest instruments adopted in an attempt to improve their functioning.

RIGHTS TRANSFER
