The enforced disappearance of persons is one of the most spread phenomena around the world and causes peculiar challenges to different areas of contemporary international law. The author analyses its international criminalization, either as crimes against humanity or as war crimes, as well as the configuration of its material, personal –perpetrators– and temporal areas. On the other hand, it is examined the State obligations to punish, no-amnesties and reparation to victims, with regard to this crime that constitutes a serious violation of the human rights core and international humanitarian law. The analysis on the pertinent treaties and international jurisprudence are the main sources in this research.
