La documentación periodística y la ruptura de algunas barreras informativas

Abstract
También es evidente que cualquier análisis histórico y actual – serio y riguroso – sobre los mejores diarios y semanarios de calidad demuestran la incidencia fundamental de la documentación en el logro de unas informaciones fidedignas, completas, claras y útiles.
Sin embargo, el estudio sobre la realidad informativa de nuestro país – y de algunos otros – muestra que aún son pocos los medios informativos que poseen buenos servicios de documentación; que uno de los factores de la baja calidad de numerosos diarios y semanarios es precisamente esa carencia, y que, aún en los medios que poseen servicios de documentación, los informadores no acuden suficientemente a ellos.
Parece lógica, por tanto, la conveniencia de reiterar algunas ideas que ya expresamos en un estudio anterior respecto a la naturaleza de la documentación como factor del saber periodístico, si bien con una nueva forma de expresión y modulación retórica, añadiendo determinados matices enriquecedores y haciéndolo breve y sintéticamente.
En concreto, en primer lugar intentaré mostrar desde la más estricta concisión y claridad que la documentación es imprescindible para elaborar la información periodística y, posteriormente, acotaré cómo se desarrolla esa incidencia describiendo con brevedad las nueve funciones informativas de la documentación periodística y apuntando cómo cada una de ellas contribuye a paliar un defecto, carencia o – en la terminología que se ha acunado en estas Jornadas – barrera
informativa.

RIGHTS TRANSFER
