The increase of the number of universities in our present social context, forces to act to these academic institutions in the scope of institutional communication, like true companies, reinforcing, by this way, their traditional values and trying to solve their deficiencies. Under this perspective, the university institutional communication acquires special importance. In the University of Murcia arises this necessity almost 70 years after its foundation and, at the moment, it still lacks a stable structure and policy related with the institutional communication. Therefore, with the analysis of its weaknesses and strengths, we have tried to establish the possible improvements and opportunities at this scope for the University of Murcia.
