Las organizaciones empresariales en nuestros días están viviendo una transformación profunda y, en cierto modo, sui generis provocada, principalmente, por la poderosa influencia de las nuevas tecnologías en sus variadas versiones. Esto las obliga a modificar las estructuras organizativas y las políticas de gestión de personas con un doble objetivo: en primer lugar, garantizar su competitividad y, en segundo lugar, asegurar que se cultiva el entorno necesario que permita disponer y hacer prosperar el talento adecuado. Con este propósito de fondo, a lo largo del siguiente artículo se analizarán las tres tendencias principales, identificadas por los autores, que influyen en la configuración actual de las organizaciones, esto es: la proliferación de entornos ágiles que permiten adaptarse rápida y dinámicamente a los continuos cambios en el mercado, pero que traen consigo nuevas formas de dirigir, organizar y gestionar personas no exentas de dificultades y particularidades; la necesaria adaptación de los sistemas de gestión del desempeño conforme a las nuevas exigencias del negocio y a la irrupción de las generaciones más jóvenes en el mercado de trabajo; y la aparición de herramientas y técnicas avanzadas de análisis de datos masivos que piden reflexiones adicionales sobre su uso y los riesgos que entrañan su potencial abuso.
