The present article tries to show a balance on the historic evolution of the Spanish family throughout the twentieth century. As necessary reference to explain social change, main factors that influence in family change are exposed. On emphasize at the same time the role that family has played in social dynamics. Much more studied from a sociological point of view, on point out continuities and divergences of Spanish familiar evolution with regard to the European. Finally those subjects that require more detained historical investigation are indicated.
