Evidenciando su desmesura, el transhumanismo pretende recurrir a las biotecnologías reproductivas con la pretensión de superar las limitaciones biológicas del cuerpo humano, seleccionando las características genéticas de la descendencia (beneficencia procreativa). Con fundamento en el principio de la dignidad humana y el reconocimiento de los derechos fundamentales, en este trabajo se hace una valoración del objetivo enunciado tanto como de los medios propuestos para lograrlo. Sólo una dimensión ontológica de la dignidad, que exige el respeto de la vida humana y la originalidad de su forma de transmisión, ofrece fundamento fuerte para responder a estos desafíos.
