Metabolism of Bombyx mori V. nitrogen balance

Abstract
The nitrogen balance of the larva Bombyx morí L. is studied in relation to the nitrogenous constituents of white mulberry-tree leaves, which are utilized by them as food. It is concluded that chlorophylí is assimilated only during the first two stages of the life of larva. While albumins are completely assimilated, globulins are only incorporated in a small quantity. Glutelins are assimilated by the larva in a great proportion, serving as base of its metabolic activities aud on the other hand half of the ingested prolamins are assimilated. The maximal protein assimilation takes place during the fourth and fifth age.
