Abstract

Tests have been carried out, in vivo and in vitro, with Fe-59, on individuals of both sexes of the species Gallus do mesticas. In the tests in vivo it has been shown that radioactivity is selectively fixed at the level of the /Lglobuline, independently of the degree of saturation of the transferrin. The in vitro experiments carried out with ever-increasing proportions of Fe-59 show different behaviours the radioactivity shifting towards the zone of the globulillos a and two fractions being clearly seen in some specimens. The variety of the results does not allow us to establish any relation with the sex or with laying phenomenon in the females. The obtaining of transferrin from the serum of this species, together with the existence on the niarket of conalbumin (Sigma Cheni Co.), liad niade possible some tests of an inmunological character (iminuiioelectroplioresis) and diffusion in agar gel and their corresponding autoradiographics with preparations and se rums inarked with Fe-59, which show the close relation between the two proteins. This observation suports certain data in the bibliography which point in this direction.
