Abstract

A study has been made of the content of serum iron, transferrin and conalbumin in the serum of the species Gallus domesticas, with a view to explaining the mechanism of iron transport in the serum.

Analyses have made of different groups of birds, separated according to sex, age and laying indications.

Confirmation has been found, based on large numbers, of the possible intervention of conalbumin in the transport of serum iron in the hen as auxiliary element of transferrin during the laying period.
