Abstract

Castrated male rats were treated with a daily dosis of 100 y of testosterone propionate. Treatment started in a group of animals 10 days after castration and in another one 60 days later.

The response was stronger in the first group suggesting that the degree of atrophy plays a significant role. Seminal vesicles were the organs the most atrophiated by castration but their response was also the greatest. The ventral prostate experienced a modest atrophy in contrast with the dorsal prostate which was very atrophiated. Both parts, however, gave a similar response to the administration of testosterone.
