Effect of pentothal on the respiration of the nervous tissue of chick embryos

Abstract
Respiratory studies were carried out on the nervous tissue of chick embryos of 6 to 10 days of incubation. The embryos had been treated with a small dose of Pentothal (0.2 mg) in the first 24 hours of incubation. Embryos of 7 and 8 days, treated with this drug, showed a de crease in respiration (around 40 %) where as those of 6 and 10 days did not register this change.
