Innervation of the striated sphincter of the urethra

Abstract
Innervation of Urethral Externa! Sphincter
The EMG at the level of the external sphincter of the urethra has been studied during reflexed micturition in decerebrated dogs. The recorded readings suggest the existence of two types of antagonist muscle fibers. This EMG activity is completely abolished after bilateral section of the pudendal nerve.
The muscle potentials registered with the oscilloscope, in relation with the stimulation of the pudendal nerve, show that the motor fibers for this striated sphincter are part of this nerve.
