Abstract

A study of the endogenous reserve of amino acids, ceto-acids and nucleotides in strains of 5. epidermidis, S. aureus, and mutants of both, white and gold, respectively was made. The difference between the pigmented strains and the non-pigmented strains were determined. Here is a tendency to increase the reserve of amino acids and to decrease the reserve of nucleotides in accordance with the age of the culture. Differences were found in the effects of tetracycline and novobiocine on the endogenous reserva of amino acid and nucleotids between the pigmented strains. The presence of lysostaphin also influences both strains but in different manner.
