Abstract

The respiratory activity of liver slices from female rats treated with D-L Ethionine is inhibited. Also, there are histological (fatty metamorphosis) and biochemical changes (total lipids accumulation, loss of glycogen).

Silimarine seems to repair, in some way, the liver damages produced by ethionine. because liver slices from rats treated with ethionine and silimarine almost do not have biochemical changes and the metamorphosis does not appear.
