Abstract

Ouantitative Analysis of Steroids ¡n Uriníƒe by Gas-liquid Chromatography. Rev. esp. FisioL, 30, 67-70. 1974. A method of acid hydrolysis of steroid substances in uriníƒe, with simultaneous extrac- tion with trichloretylene as organic solvent, is developed. The qualities of this solvent

for the extraction of steroids from aqueous solution are discussed.
Doing, in the extract, a direct gas-chromatography, without sylanization of steroid substances, at a programmed temperature from 190° C to 265° C increasing 2.5° C per minute, in 30 minutes, it is possible to obtain a quantitative analysis of 17-ketosteroids, testosterone, pregnandiol, allo-pregnandiol and cholesterol, using cholestanone as inter nal standard.

The method seems adequate for the clinical follow up of pregnancy and also for diagnosis and clinical follow up of adrenal cortex disfunction.
