Luteotrophic activity of preparations of human placental lactogen

Abstract
The luteotrophic effect of a pure preparation of Human Placental Lactogen (HPL) was assayed by prolonging dioestrus in intact inmature Wistar rats with different doses. The doses were between 1 mg and 0.060 mg. The EDi0 was obtained with 0.175 mg (0.124-0.249). All pure extracts used were free of insuline Human Growth Hormone (HGH) and Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin (HCG). The authors try to establish a unit of biological activity for their own preparations.
