Metabolism of histamine on rats related to age

Abstract
The excretion of free histamine in the urine of the rats of the Wistar strain is studied, as an Index of the metabolism of endogen histamine in the rat. That study is related to the age and sex.
The method used to sample the urines is explained with special reference to the problems solved in new born animals. The technique involved the forced hydratation of the animals. The urine samples were valued on guinea pig ileum. A steep decrease in the quantity of histamine eliminated was reported in the first days of live; this change is not related to the sex. When the rats attain an age of 25-30 days old a difference in the urinary elimination of histamine takes place between males and females.
