Abstract

The authors study the effects produced in pulmonary circulation by anoxia and asphyxia. They observe that anoxia produces a marked pressure effect which confirms the pulmonary vasoconstrictor action of the lack of oxygen. However the interpretation of the graphics suggests that in the increase of peripheric resistance, there participate reflex influences and mechanical factors.

In the increase of pulmonary arterial pressure produced by asphyxia the direct vasoconstrictor action seems to be less intense; on the other hand reflex and extravascular effects appear to predominate.
