Entre las reproducciones de yeso de los museos, las arquitectónicas poseen un estatus particular. No son réplicas completas de los originales, como ocurre con la escultura, sino copias de piezas, fragmentos o porciones de edificios, una respuesta de larga tradición histórica al problema de cómo exponer arquitectura en la galería de un museo. La compleja relación de los moldeados de yeso arquitectónicos con sus originales sirve de base a la experiencia de realidad aumentada Plaster ReCast [Re-moldeado de yeso]. A través de la lente de este proyecto digital, el artículo examina cómo las técnicas de reproducción digital están alterando nuestra relación con muchos de los principios de la cultura moderna: el concepto de autenticidad, el papel de los museos en la sociedad actual y también el modo en que observamos los objetos que contienen.
