Abstract

63
In the first thirty years of the twentieth century, the life of the Church indicates challenging themes for ecclesiology. Three important areas of the «holiness of the Church» are indicated: theological reflection on the active role of lay people in the mission of the Church, the liturgical movement, and the growing importance of the way the whole Church witnesses Christ. The second part of the study proposes a more comprehensive reading of the changes of paradigm (from the mystical body of Christ to the people of God). The historical salvific vision was instrumental to understand that the holiness of the Church in via was not yet perfect, and it should not be understood only in terms of transcendence.
