Abstract

55
The Constitution Lumen gentium did not take on the theology of the local church as such. However, the ecclesiology that has evolved after the council has underlined the notion of communio Ecclesiarum as a structural category to understand the way that the church has developed historically. The category of communio Ecclesiarum brings out the centrality of the ministry of the local churches. Those who maintain the strict correlation between the Episcopal College and the local churches note that an episcopacy that does not preside over local churches represents a dysfunction. The author notes the quaestio and the possible solution.
