Abstract

205
In the last few years there has been considerable research on the Biblical canon. One of the origins was the research on the «canon» of the Old Testament. However, the very word «canon» is still used in an ambiguous way. One the one hand, there is a necessity to distinguish between «writing », «canonical», and «canon». On the other hand, we need to complete the historical and theological aspects. The data on the formation of the canon, such as the ways of quoting the text, the usage of the book in the churches, the collections, the lists and the manuscripts, help us to understand how the Church became aware of the nature of a series of texts, in which she was reflected and which she, recognizing them as inspired by God, came to accept as normative in terms of faith and custom. The study of the formation of the «Pauline canon» helps us to understand the relationship between Revelation, Inspiration, Canon and Church, even though the different theories must also be evaluated in their underlying assumptions.
