The Eucharist is the Mystery «which nourishes the spiritual life of the faithful and the initiatives of each local Church» (Mane nobiscum Domine, n. 5). This work has two parts. The first explores the place of the Eucharist in the pastoral impulse that John Paul II has wanted to give to the Church. The second deals with the relation between liturgy and life, particularly in lay people. For the Eucharist to actually bear all its fruits in both the spiritual and the pastoral realms, it has to be understood and lived in its fullness, in all of its dimensions, elements and consequences.
