Reason is a differentiating trait of Christianity when compared with other religions. The position of Christianity, as Ratzinger states time after time, is positive and complementary. Faith allows the criticism of reason, while human knowledge grows and is enriched by revelation. Christianity accepted philosophy, before religions. It is what he has called «the victory of intelligence» in the world of religions, and in the future there must also be a broader and deeper «true learning» than what has taken place at present.
